Stephen Johnston

Stephen Johnston
MANAGING DIRECTOR & GENERAL MANAGER
In the unpredictable adventure of life, sometimes we are lucky enough to find ourselves at places that are extraordinary and beyond compare. For me, the Boston Harbor Hotel is just such a place. When I first arrived in Boston in 2003 to open another hotel, I became increasingly aware that the Boston Harbor Hotel was a special place within the city – a hotel with a growing reputation for excellence, and an enviable landmark location. Fast-forward ten years to 2013 and I am honored to take on the role of General Manager at the city’s iconic Boston Harbor Hotel. Now that I am here, I can appreciate that the true character of the hotel comes not just from the stunning architectural design and setting, but from the hearts of the employees who work alongside me every day as we strive to create memorable experiences for our many guests.
Stephen has over 29 years of experience in hospitality. Born in Dublin, Ireland Stephen has worked in a variety of hotels in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Prior to joining the Boston Harbor Hotel, Stephen was General Manager at the Fairfax at Embassy Row, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Gary Sloper

Gary Sloper
DIRECTOR OF ROOMS
The Boston Harbor Hotel is an iconic and classic hotel with a variety of residential room types, allowing me to customize the preferences of many regular guests. The very best part of my job is being able to interact with both the staff and the guests. My favorite part of the day is when I see a guest who has had a wonderful stay as a result of our staff's intuitive service. Equally as rewarding is seeing my staff enjoy taking care of our guests. I love setting up each day - getting the house checked in, making all guests happy and content, ensuring a pleasant night's sleep – and then doing it all over again the next day. I especially love to make a stay personal - whether it is a small gesture like a favorite flower, local newspaper, preferred beverage, or something bigger - anything that might trigger an opportunity to exceed expectations.
Gary has 25 years of expertise in the Rooms Division, maintaining the standards that the Boston Harbor Hotel lives and breathes every day. Before the Boston Harbor Hotel, Gary began his career in his home country of Bermuda with Princess Hotels (now Fairmont) before opening the Four Seasons Boston where he spent 17 years helping to develop many younger managers to share his passion for hospitality and service.

Jennifer McMahon

REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING
My heart has always been in hotel sales and marketing. As an independent luxury hotel, we have the unique opportunity to truly make a difference and our team is constantly working on implementing exciting ideas. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my role is working with my team to be the first in the industry or the city to try something.
With three decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Jennifer is known for her marketing expertise, leadership, creativity and contagious energy. Prior to joining the Boston Harbor Hotel, Jennifer held a regional role with Interstate Hotels and Resorts, Inc. Lisa Schuessler

Lisa Schuessler
REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
People often say “I couldn’t do what you do every day”. My reply back always is, you couldn’t if you didn’t love it. Every day is a different day in Hospitality, and you adapt and change accordingly. I had the pleasure of working at The Boston Harbor Hotel from 2005-2007, and over the last 12 years it has always been a goal for me to work here again.
The Boston Harbor Hotel is a special place that cannot be replicated. The iconic landmark leaves an impression on all that visits, but most of all the talented individuals that work alongside me everyday are the reason why our clients, and guest return to experience the memorable service that we are known to provide.
I’m proud to be working amongst the best in the industry where great minds can come together to make a difference. The Boston Harbor fosters a culture that motivates and inspires everyone to be there best personally and professionally.
As Regional Director of Human Resources for Pyramid Hotel Group and the Boston Harbor Hotel, Lisa has had an extensive career specializing in Human Resources. Prior to the Boston Harbor Hotel, Lisa worked with Sonesta Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces.

Rebecca Gustin

Rebecca Gustin
REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF REVENUE MANAGEMENT
Driving up to the hotel in morning and seeing the arch reminds me how lucky I am to be part of the Boston Harbor Hotel team. My favorite part of working here is the feeling of being part of one large family. The team is constantly looking for ways to go above and beyond expectations. As you walk around the lobby, you can actually feel the enthusiasm of all employees to master his or her role. The urge to gain expertise is infectious. As Director of Revenue, I love analyzing numbers and offering recommendations on how to maximize the hotel's potential. The best part of my role is tracking the hotel’s success year after year.
Rebecca began her career at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and has been a part of the Pyramid Hotel Group team for 20 years.

Daniel Bruce

Daniel Bruce
EXECUTIVE CHEF
After over 30 years as Executive Chef at the Boston Harbor Hotel, I still see the same charm that it had the first day I arrived. As Chef for the hotel and all of the restaurants, I have the ability to make an impact on everyone who dines at the hotel, guests, local Boston diners and visitors alike. Whether it is a large celebration dinner in Meritage or a small lunch with friends on the Rowes Wharf Sea Grille patio, I love making the experience of dining personal and memorable. The best part of my job is often what happens outside of the kitchen - I love getting to know everyone who dines with us. Now in my third decade at the Boston Harbor Hotel, I still strive to find creative ways to broaden the culinary experience we offer.
Born and raised in northern New England, Daniel Bruce graduated with honors from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, and then traveled to Italy and France for more traditional training. Upon his return to the United States, he began working in New York City's 21 Club, quickly becoming the youngest executive chef in the history of that legendary restaurant. Named Chef of the Year for 2013 by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, Daniel has been in the culinary industry for 39 years and has released his first cookbook - Simply New England: Seasonal Recipes That Celebrate Land and Sea.

John Collings

John Collings
DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE
What I love about the hospitality business is that it is people from all over the world, from all walks of life, working together to create something extraordinarily special. It is a business that brings out the best in us and nowhere does this manifest itself more successfully than here, at the Boston Harbor Hotel.
John joins the Boston Harbor Hotel team with over 20 years of hotel and restaurant experience. Prior to coming to the Boston Harbor Hotel, John led a private restaurant group and soon transitioned into hotels, working for Marriott, Fairmont, and Chatham Bars Inn.

Rachel Stiglets

Rachel Stiglets
DIRECTOR OF CATERING
The best part about the Boston Harbor Hotel is the staff: As soon as you walk in the front door, you are greeted by a genuinely happy and gracious staff - many of whom have been at the hotel for 20+ years. I would be remiss if I did not mention the spectacular views I get to enjoy every day. As Director of Catering at the Boston Harbor Hotel, I would have to say that my favorite aspect is my team. I have the luxury of working alongside four of the most talented catering managers in the industry. Daily I receive e-mails, letters and phone calls - one after the next - to express the beyond compare service they have delivered again and again. Whether a corporate event, or a Father of the Bride gushing over the wedding they had the past weekend and how we delivered a dream come true for his daughter, I never tire of hearing how this team continues to deliver unique, personalized experiences for our guests.
Rachel has 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining the team at the Boston Harbor Hotel, she worked in both Boston and Chicago, where she served as the Director of Catering & Convention Services at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel and the Director of Catering & Convention Services (as well as other positions) at the Wyndham Boston Hotel. She started her career at the Copley Plaza Hotel.
