BOSTON, MA — Summer in New England is all about savoring sun-filled days, breezy nights and most notably, the water. This summer, the Boston Harbor Hotel will again be one of Boston’s hottest outdoor entertainment venues when it launches the 15th annual Summer in the City Entertainment Series on Thursday, June 13, 2013 (continuing through Friday, August 30, 2013).

As one of the city’s most anticipated outdoor summer traditions, the Summer in the City Entertainment Series offers guests, visitors and local residents the opportunity to enjoy complimentary concerts, movies and live entertainment from the hotel’s unrivaled waterfront location. Now in its 15th year, the series has become a summer staple in Boston.

As the sun sets, the harbor comes alive with different bands performing nightly on the hotel’s floating barge. Cool breezes, passing yachts, Chef Daniel Bruce’s award-winning cuisine and cocktails al fresco all paint a lively scene that is reminiscent of the European seaside, but is entirely unique to Boston. With each night sporting a different theme from Summer Soul Tuesdays and Blues Barge Thursdays to Movies by Moonlight Fridays and more, there is something for everyone to enjoy:

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Summer in the City Entertainment Series, two new music themes will be introduced in addition to the favorites:

NEW for 2013: Rat Pack Mondays: A tribute to the original Rat Pack, Monday nights will capture the swinging magic of this famed era with a contemporary spin on the classics of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and others.

Summer Soul Tuesdays: Playing a mix of R&B and soul, Tuesday’s bands will highlight favorites from legends such as Marvin Gaye, Al Green, James Brown, Otis Redding, Roberta Flack and Gladys Knight & the Pips.

NEW for 2013: Country Pop Wednesdays: Bringing the sounds of Nashville to Boston, Summer in the City Entertainment Series has officially ‘Gone Country’ with Wednesday nights featuring today’s best country pop hits.

Blues Barge Thursdays: What began as the foundation for the Summer in the City Entertainment Series when it launched 15 years ago, the Blues Barge– anchored behind the Boston Harbor Hotel – now provides the setting for some of the best local and national blues artists to share their talents every Thursday in the summer.

Music & Movie Fridays: Revisit Hollywood’s silver screen and modern classics with a stellar lineup of movies every Friday night against the backdrop of the starlit harbor. Start the weekend early, and enjoy music (live performance or DJ) before the movie begins at dusk.
